The Snohomish County Juvenille Court staff are presenting a training on motivational interviewing.
Due to the participatory nature of this training each session will be limited to 25 people. Please RSVP to Sara Bolton at sarah.bolton@snoco.org
Motivational Interviewing is a style of conversation that focuses on empathy, support, and collaboration to develop motivation to change undesirable behaviors (such as truancy). It places a strong emphasis on engaging the person, focusing on the cause of the problem, evoking 'change talk', and making a plan to address the identified causes of the problem.
School personnel and community members involved in the truancy process who want to learn about motivational interviewing are invited.
The Denny Juvenile Justice Center and Marysville School District are presenting the Community Truancy Board (CTB) training on Tuesday, September 26 from 3-7 p.m. in the Board Room.

The training is intended for school personnel, community partners and agencies, volunteers and anyone who wants to get involved in youth lives in Snohomish County.
Attendees will be able to participate in Community Truancy boards after completion of the training.

"Marysville schools helped prepare me for life by providing me with some of the most amazing teachers and support staff, many of whom I am still in contact with today. My teachers truly did believe in me and supported me. I am beyond thankful for their loving guidance and owe much of my success to their support. To those teachers (you know who you are), thank you!" - #MSD25 Staff Member and Homegrown Hero, Alicia Coragiulo
