Our hearts and prayers are with the students and families in the Freeman School District, and the community members of Rockford, Washington.
Marysville School District Superintendent, Dr. Becky Berg and a trauma-informed professional are on their way to Rockford to provide additional support and resources during this time.
As a school district that has been impacted by a similar senseless tragedy, we know Rockford has a long road to recovery ahead. The Marysville School District will stand by them and provide the support and care needed in the days and months to come.
Thank you to the Empire Health Foundation for providing the resources for them to make to make this trip.

The Snohomish County Juvenille Court staff are presenting a training on motivational interviewing.
Due to the participatory nature of this training each session will be limited to 25 people. Please RSVP to Sara Bolton at sarah.bolton@snoco.org
Motivational Interviewing is a style of conversation that focuses on empathy, support, and collaboration to develop motivation to change undesirable behaviors (such as truancy). It places a strong emphasis on engaging the person, focusing on the cause of the problem, evoking 'change talk', and making a plan to address the identified causes of the problem.
School personnel and community members involved in the truancy process who want to learn about motivational interviewing are invited.

(athletes with a history of respiratory or heart issues should sit out today's competition. Coaches will monitor athletes closely)
Practice: Students with a history of respiratory or heart issues should remain inside for training. All other athletes should adhere to shorter duration of high intensity activity. Increase breaks and hydration opportunities. Coaches have been advised to closely monitor their athletes response as the air quality may change.
Due to poor air quality and out of an abundance of caution, elementary schools will have indoor recess today. Middle and high school students should avoid strenuous activity outside. Health Room Assistants have been directed to report any breathing difficulty to school administration and follow normal protocols.
Greg Erickson, district athletic director, is continuing to monitor air quality throughout the day and will notify athletic staff regarding after school practices and competitions.
