Marysville Getchell and Marysville Pilchuck High Schools' spring drama production, The Drowsy Chaperone continues this weekend! A parody of American musical comedy of the 1920s, the story concerns a middle-aged, asocial musical theatre fan as he plays the record of his favorite musical, the (fictional) 1928 hit, The Drowsy Chaperone. The show comes to life onstage as he wryly comments on the music, story, and actors. Show dates and ticket prices at bit.ly/TheDrowsyChaperone

“We can all contribute and play everywhere, and that is what I think makes us special. Before the season started I felt like we had a great chemistry as friends outside of the game. When it’s a 1-1 game, and it’s a scuffle at the end, you just start playing for each other and you work harder than everyone.” - Player Daniel Amador https://goo.gl/g26Ga8

"About 75 Marysville high school students spent the day learning about skilled trades at Marysville Pilchuck. Across a parking lot filled with equipment, vehicles and presenters, Alextan Roodzant, 18, climbed down from the cab of a backhoe. The Marysville Getchell senior has seen backhoes at work plenty of times because a family friend does construction. She’d never operated one, though. She didn’t realize how many controls there were, and how much know-how it takes to make the big yellow machine bite into the dirt, lift, turn and release. “A lot of us want to pursue engineering or construction careers,” Roodzant said. “This is a great opportunity.” via Everett Herald: https://goo.gl/ijZKM3

Marysville Getchell students (from left) Niklas Vieth, Adair Sanchez, Jordan Valencia and RJ Bancroft assemble a sprinkler system at the Trade Up event at Marysville Pilchuck High School on Thursday in Everett. High school student learn hands-on from the experts in careers that don’t require a college education, but rather on the job training or apprenticeships. Students can use dumptrucks, learn to operate a crane, spray a firehose, sit in the driver’s seat of a truck or bus. (Andy Bronson / The Herald)
