MMS Trauma Informed Counselor

Hello all.

I wanted to reintroduce myself – I am Daniel Wolf, the Trauma Informed Counselor here at MMS.  You might have heard of my wonderful service dog, Duke.  We have had the great pleasure of working with your students this year.  I come to you with a passionate plea – please go to the link that I am going to include at the end of this article.  It is titled ’10 Things Parents Can Do to Prevent Suicide’ (from healthychildren.org).  Unfortunately, as most of you have heard, we lost a student to suicide a few months ago.  This year we as a staff have talked with and helped numerous students who have had thoughts of self-harm or suicide.  But we can’t do it alone.  If we are to help make sure that a suicide never happens again here at MMS we need to be a united front.  We need to let our students – your children – know how much they are loved and where they can go when they need help.  After reading the article please take a few moments to talk with your child and find out where they are at emotionally, socially, and academically.  All of these areas deeply affect their mental health well being.

Thank you for allowing us to walk along your student(s) during this chapter in their life.  Do not hesitate to call and ask for Mrs. Ankerson (students last name A - K), Mrs. Cimbal (students last name  L - Z), or myself if you have questions or concerns.

Respectfully, Daniel Wolf (& Duke, of course!)
