Marysville Getchell High School

Legacy High School, a 9 - 12 grade high school located in the Marysville School District has expanded its learning options for students through “Legacy Online” program. Legacy High School offers traditional site-based learning with a blend of Alternative Learning Experience (ALE) courses, and now an expanded online learning platform. These options offer flexible scheduling, accelerated learning options, and credit retrieval opportunities for students.

Legacy Online provides students with opportunities for learning through credit-earning online courses. The online ALE courses (for grades 9–12) under the definition of online course per Chapter 392-502 WAC are:  

• More than half of the course content is delivered electronically using the internet or other computer-based methods, and

• More than half of the teaching is conducted from a remote location through an online course learning management system or other online or electronic tools. 

A certificated teacher has the primary responsibility for the student’s instructional interaction for the online program. Instructional interaction between the teacher and the student includes, but is not limited to: direct instruction, review of assignments, assessment, testing, progress monitoring, and educational facilitation; and student access to the teacher synchronously, asynchronously, or both. Students may be required to visit campus for some academic activities including state assessments. 

For the current school year (2024 - 2025), there are limited seats available, with expanded availability for the 2025 - 2026 school year. Course offerings are Math, English, Science, Social Studies, World Languages, and some electives. Students must enroll and meet all criteria of the online program prior to acceptance into the online program; this includes students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or special accommodations through a 504 plan.
