Headshot Rich

Dear Liberty Elementary Families!

First off I would like to welcome you to this new school year. It is very different from any other start I have been a part of, both as a classroom teacher and principal. I know, WE GOT THIS! All of Marysville School District has been working hard to work with all our families and students this coming school year. We are very excited to launch this new venture of Continuous Learning 2.0 with you.

We hope this letter finds you and your family well and ready to start our new school year in the Continuous Learning 2.0 model. We are very excited to launch into this new venture with you and have been planning for the best start possible. The Marysville School District listened to you from the spring survey data and has made many improvements to learning as we start
the year with this model of online learning. I wanted to take this opportunity to update you on the information we have about starting school and hopefully answer many questions you might have at this time.

September 3rd: You will be hearing from your child’s new classroom teacher. At that time you will have the opportunity to sign up for an individual Family Connection time during the week of Sept. 9th - 11th. You and your child can connect with their teacher and get to know each other via Zoom. This will be a time for you to share all about your child as well as the needs of
your family during this distance learning time. You will also be able to learn about the daily schedule of the classroom and have an opportunity to ask questions of the teacher.

September 9th - 11th Family Connection Week: Individual Family Connection times with the teacher will take place. If you do not have a time scheduled by Sept. 9th, please reach out to the teacher or office staff at (360) 965-1800 to do so. These first 3 days are critical that we meet with each student and family so we can best prepare for daily instruction in all classrooms.

Chromebooks and Material Pick-Up for 3rd - 5th graders and School Supplies for all Kindergarten - 5th graders: You will also be able to come into Liberty Elementary anytime during those 3 days from 9:00am to 4:00pm and pick up a Chromebook for your 3rd - 5th grader if you do not already have one from last year. We are currently waiting for more
Chromebooks to arrive for each Kindergarten through second grader to have one of their own. You will also be able to come into the school and pick up school supplies and items your child’s teachers have put together and prepared for them. More information on material pick-up will be coming. Liberty staff will be on hand to assist you in any way with your item needs. This would also be a great time to return any library books that you may have from last year.

Beginning September 14th: Instruction begins in all classrooms. The daily schedule is found on the last page for your reference. Students should be in attendance in their Google Classroom and on Zoom ready for class to begin at 8:30am, Monday through Friday. Attendance will be taken at that time. If you have indicated to your child’s teacher that they will be attending the instruction through the recorded lesson at a later time that day, attendance will be counted once the lesson is completed. If you know you will be absent please email your teacher and call the attendance line. This would be very helpful in knowing if your student is sick. (360) 965-1801 is our attendance line.

Kindergarten teachers will be in contact with their families soon for details to start the school year.

In the meantime, if you have any questions please feel free to call our office at (360) 965-1800 and one of us will get back to you as soon as we can. We want to make this as smooth of a start for you and your family as possible so please reach out to us. We’re here for you and as always LIBERTY LOVES YOU!

Sincerely,
Rich Middaugh, Principal
Tara Jeffries, Assistant Principal
Liberty Staff
