Liberty Elementary Conservation Club Team Wins Judge's Choice at National Competition.

The 8th annual National KidWind Challenge was held at Colorado University in Boulder, Colorado, May 14-17. Four 5th-grade students competed in the wind and solar challenges at the competition. The students created a solar device and a wind turbine. The wind turbine was put through tests in 3 different speed wind tunnels. They also created a community outreach campaign about solar farming and competed in multiple instant challenges about renewable energy.

The team, "Emo Turtle Ducks," qualified this year during a regional challenge held at Liberty Elementary. Eight teams competed to create the best turbine blades. Each team had a judges interview, tested blades in a 4-foot wind tunnel, and competed in a solar circuit instant challenge. The overall highest score was invited to the National Competition.

The judges voted them Judges Choice out of 83 teams. Public and private elementary, middle, and high school teams from around the country competed.

Way to go, students! We are so proud of you.
