A shout out to the students who participated in this year's Mock Trials and to the teachers who guided them, Eric Hanson and Anne Galenberg!
The students who participated in the Mock Trial represented both Marysville Getchell and Marysville Pilchuck High Schools. Students prepared for the trial by spending hours reading the material for the competition. "When they are preparing, they must also prepare with certainty and know that much of what they are preparing for can change quickly during the competition. In a matter of seconds, the students must understand what is happening, what it means, and must create an on-the-spot relevant course of action that makes sense both legally and situationally. All the while, they need to appear to be calm and composed' shared Eric Hanson, 10th Street Teacher, and Mock Trial Club Advisor.
The preparation for the mock trial is guided by teachers, lawyers, and judges. This year, the students were guided by teacher Eric Hanson (10th St MS), teacher (and licensed lawyer) Anne Galenberg (Legacy HS), and Judge George Appel, a district court judge at the Denney Regional Justice Center. Judge Appel is also a resident of Marysville.
While they didn't move on to the next level, the students represented Marysville well. Great job, students!
