Dear Marysville School District Families,

Students will soon be registering for classes for the upcoming school year. We are excited to share that we have a new program to help your child accomplish his/her dream of becoming a teacher. If this is something that your child has ever expressed an interest in, then this is the class to take. The class is called Careers in Education and is currently offered at Marysville Pilchuck starting in the 2019-20 school year. The Careers in Education course directly aligns to the Everett Community College course named “Education 202: Intro to Education”.

By participating in the Careers in Education courses your child will be eligible to:

  • Begin an education degree in high school and save 1-2 years of college.

  • Receive one-on-one support and guidance in financial aid, college applications, and college success.

  • Collaborate with a diverse population of students interested in teaching.

  • Observe teachers while also having the opportunity to teach.

  • Earn both high school and college credit.

The goal is to prepare and mentor high school students of different cultural and ethnic backgrounds to become future teachers including those with a bilingual and multilingual focus. We are offering this program because we know that the need for more diverse teachers within our schools and community is significant. Students from all backgrounds as well as students who are bilingual and multilingual are welcomed!

The Marysville School District, in collaboration with Everett Community College and the University of Washington Bothell, are excited to be able to support and guide our students from now, through teaching certification and the potential of job placement in our community. Their success is truly our community’s success.
