Cedarcrest Middle School was locked down from 9:16 am until 9:22 am due to police activity near the school. The suspect was in a police pursuit and fled onto the school property. Out of an abundance of caution, the school was placed in lockdown. All students and staff are safe. We appreciate the quick action of the Marysville Police Department. The suspect has been taken into custody.
3/8/23, 7:46 AM: The District has received a report that the railroad crossing arm at 116th Street is malfunctioning. A bus, along with other traffic, cannot cross the tracks. The problem has been reported to Burlington Northern and law enforcement. Our transportation department is rerouting buses to transport children to schools.
March 1, 2023: Marysville schools are operating on a normal schedule today. The City and County did a great job clearing main roads. There may be some ice on side roads in neighborhoods, on sidewalks and parking lots. Please use care and caution.
IMPORTANT UPDATE: Due to unpredictable weather patterns and unsafe driving conditions, schools are closed today, Tuesday, February 28, 2023.

Hoops for Hope Benefit Classic coming March 2! All proceeds support the MSD Life Skills Programs. The event will be held at the MPHS Gym beginning at 6:00 pm.

Our lost and found is growing! If your student is missing a coat or other item please have them check the Lost and Found. We also have some lost glasses and jewelry in the office as well.

URGENT
The parent pickup lot is in Cedarcrest’s West Parking Lot. This is the only location to pickup your students.
The North Parking lot which is accessed to the North East of the School is designated for our Student Buses, Special Education Buses, Boy’s and Girls Club bus, and a small group of parents with special needs students. This is also our staff parking lot.
Starting Monday the North East entrance will be blocked until buses arrive, at which time they will be let in.
This is a plan designed to keep our students safe and provide for safe entrance and egress for our busses.

Cedarcrest is having a Winter Wonderland Dance on December 9th from 1:45 to 3:15 pm. There will be food, music, activities and snow! Tickets can be purchased from Ms. Joan in the ASB office.
We are looking for people to talk to students about their career at our College and Career Fair for 8th grade and Avid Students. The fair is taking place on January 27th at Cedarcrest from 8:30 to noon. The attached flyer can answer questions and also has contact information if you're willing to present. Our students would love to hear your expertise in your chosen profession.
AVID Family Night coming November 30 at Marysville Middle School from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. This event is open to all families district-wide.
Unfortunately with many of our cast members, and now our director out ill, we have to cancel tonight's and both of Saturdays performances of the Cedarcrest play, The Masked Musketeer. We will send out information when we have a reschedule date.
Due to cast member illness, we are cancelling tonight's performance of the play The Masked Musketeer. We have every hope that we will be able to have the performances on Friday and Saturday night and also the matinee on Saturday.
CMS Drama invites you to our fall production, "The Masked Musketeer" next week! Come see another great comedy-adventure put on by Cedarcrest's talented actors, directed by Darren Oke. Performances are 11/17, 11/18 & 11/19 at 7pm, plus a 2pm matinee on the 19th. Tickets are $7 at the door.

Next week we will have a modified conference schedule.
Parent Teacher Conferences on November 2nd and 3rd:
Our parent-teacher conferences will be held on Wednesday November 2nd and Thursday November 3rd. Students will have early release at 11:50 next Wednesday-Friday, and will be offered a take-and-go sack lunch to bring home with them. The conferences will be “arena style” where parents may come when it is convenient for them and have a brief check in with each of their student’s teachers. We highly encourage all parents and guardians who can attend the earlier times to do so as the evening time is generally the most crowded. Here are the times and information you need to know.
Conferences will be Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 1pm - 3pm and Wednesday evening from 4:30pm - 7pm.
6th grade conferences will be held in the cafeteria.
7th and 8th conferences will be held in the gym.
Fundraiser pickup for those participating will be on the stage in the cafeteria.

Nuestras conferencias de padres y maestros se llevarán a cabo el miércoles 2 de noviembre y el jueves 3 de noviembre. Los estudiantes saldrán temprano a las 11:50 el próximo miércoles a viernes y se les ofrecerá un almuerzo para llevar para llevar a casa. Las conferencias serán "estilo arena" donde los padres pueden venir cuando sea conveniente para ellos y tener un breve control con cada uno de los maestros de sus hijos. Our PTSA is in need of parents to fill officer positions. If we are unable to fill these positions we will lose our PTSA and the funds that they generate throughout the year. There is a PTSA meeting scheduled for Thursday, October 20th in the Library. Please consider volunteering to help keep the PTSA here at Cedarcrest!
Outdoor Activities:
Due to the air quality staying at unhealthy levels, outdoor activities for students including elementary school recess and outdoor PE for all grades are to be held indoors where feasible. In addition, outdoor after-school sports practices are to be moved inside where feasible.
The status of scheduled after-school sports competitions will be monitored and communicated directly to coaches from the Athletic Department and to parents/guardians through FinalForms.
Smoke and Particulates:
Many of our buildings are experiencing the smell of smoke indoors. To help alleviate some of the smell, the airflow has been reduced. This will not eliminate the smell of smoke.
Each building has filters that are changed on a regular cycle. These filters may help to reduce the particulates indoors. Students and staff who must walk outside between classes and who are in sensitive groups may want to consider wearing a mask to help limit exposure and reduce the inhalation of particulates.
Masks are available from your school offices.
This current order is in effect through Thursday (October 20) evening.
