Statement from the Marysville School District regarding Halloween School districts in our state and around the country have been moving away from allowing Halloween celebrations. The Marysville School District followed suit. The District believes that school should be academically and socially enriching, and feedback from the community and staff affirmed this. The decision was reversed to allow students and staff to experience a day of fun and joy in school. The decision to allow school-appropriate costumes in no way diminishes the school district's commitment to inclusion. We ask students and families to adhere to the following the wearing of costumes during school hours: Halloween Costume Guidelines Marysville School District reminds students, staff, and families to keep it fun, not risky or offensive. Halloween is just around the corner, and we want all of our staff and students to have the opportunity to enjoy it safely and respectfully. The following guidelines help to avoid costumes that may make people feel scared, exploited, insulted, or humiliated. Sometimes, even with good intent or without fully realizing it, people wear costumes that may be offensive to others. To that end, we have established guidelines for costumes that may be brought or worn to school: - Costumes should not be offensive or discriminatory - this includes costumes that may be based on or portray a particular race, color, sex, gender, disability, or national origin. - Face paint or wigs should not be worn to portray different races or skin colors. - Costumes should not include weapons, simulated weapons, or props that could be dangerous to others. - Masks, face coverings, or make-up that results in staff being unable to identify students should not be worn. - Costumes should be school-appropriate and conform to dress code standards. - Anything that would be placed in the mouth is not allowed, such as pacifiers or false teeth. - Costumes that depict violence, gore, alcohol, or drugs are not appropriate. Everyone is responsible for creating a safe and welcoming environment for all. Thank you for adhering to these guidelines. Broken Water Line Update for Quil Ceda Tulalip Elementary School, 10th Street Middle School, Legacy High School, Tulalip Heritage High School, and the School to Home Partnership Program: Families, We have great news! Students and staff can return to their schools tomorrow! After the major water line break, we have been given the all-clear on the repairs and testing of the water and systems. Thank you for your flexibility, patience, and understanding as our students, staff, and families made the necessary changes to ensure teaching and learning continued during the shutdown. We are excited to see our students and staff back in their schools tomorrow!

Broken Water Line Update for Quil Ceda Tulalip Elementary School, 10th Street Middle School, Legacy High School, Tulalip Heritage High School, and the School to Home Partnership Program: We are providing an update on the status of the water line break and the impacts of holding school on the campuses. The City notified the District that the follow-up work needed to ensure the repair is fixed and water is tested will not be completed today or over the weekend as initially anticipated, so we cannot have in-person school at the campuses on Monday. Each school will continue with the current plan for Monday: Remote learning for 10th Street Middle School, Legacy High School, Tulalip Heritage High School, and SHoPP, and in-person school at the Tulalip Boys and Girls Club for Quil Ceda Tulalip Elementary. Families will receive updates directly from their child's schools.

Broken Water Line Update for Quil Ceda Tulalip Elementary School, 10th Street Middle School, Legacy High School, Tulalip Heritage High School, and the School to Home Partnership Program: We have learned the water line may not be repaired until Thursday, possibly Friday. Students who attend Quil Ceda Tulalip Elementary School will be relocated to the Tulalip Boys and Girls Club. Students who attend 10th Street, Legacy, Heritage, and the SHoPP program will participate in remote learning. Families will receive updates directly from their child's schools.

School is canceled today for Quil Ceda Tulalip Elementary, 10th Street Middle, Legacy and Tulalip Heritage High Schools. There is no water due to a broken water main. We cannot hold school with no running water. We anticipate the breakage to be repaired today by the City and school to resume tomorrow on a normal schedule. For students who are already on a bus, transportation is coordinating a plan to return students home.

We regret to inform our families, staff, and the Marysville and Tulalip communities that the Marysville School District Back to School Block Party scheduled on August 24 at Asbery Field has been postponed indefinitely at this time. We encourage our students and their families to attend their individual back-to-school events scheduled by their school(s). This includes welcome nights, registration or orientation events, and more. The Marysville School District looks forward to celebrating with our students, families, staff, and community at a later date.

NOTICE OF MEETING TO ADOPT 2023-24 BUDGET AND CONDUCT PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE is hereby given, pursuant to RCW 28A.505.050 and RCW 28A.505.060, that the Board of Directors of the Marysville School District No. 25, Snohomish County, Washington, will hold a special session on Monday, August 28, 2023, commencing at 5:00 pm in the Marysville Service Center, 4220 80th St NE, Marysville, Washington or via remote telephone and video conference. The meeting is called for the purpose of holding a hearing and adopting the budget of the District for the ensuing 2023-24 fiscal year. Prior to the adoption of the 2023-24 budget, the Board will hold a hearing on August 28, 2023, at 5:00 pm, in the Marysville Service Center, 4220 80th St NE, Marysville, Washington, or via remote telephone and video conference for the purpose of receiving comments from the public on the 2023-24 budget. Any person may appear at the hearing and be heard for or against any part of the 2023-24 budget. Just in at 10:25 AM: Police and fire have given the all-clear, and students and staff are returning to the building and are safe. --- 6/5/23, 10:07 AM: Totem Middle School has been evacuated to Asbery Field due to a bomb threat. All students and staff are safe and accounted for. Police are on the scene and are investigating the threat. Once the police clear the building, students and staff will be allowed to return to the building. If parents or guardians choose to pick up their child, a sign-out procedure has been established on the field. While it is not necessary at this time to pick up your child, we understand some families may prefer to do so. Again, students and staff are safe. We will provide an update as soon as the police on the scene provide new information.

5/31/23, 2:30 pm: Liberty Elementary School and Marysville Middle School are being placed in lockdown by the Marysville Police. This lockdown is out of an abundance of caution and for the safety and protection of students and staff. The lockdown is not related to either of the schools. Police are continuing their search for a local convenience store robbery suspect who fled on foot, causing a lockdown of Liberty and Totem Middle School yesterday. 3:12 pm Update: The schools remain in a police-recommended lockdown. The schools will communicate with families on how students will be dismissed at their regular dismissal time (with supervision).
