State Superintendent Notifies District of Financial Oversight Committee Members
The Marysville School District Superintendent, Dr. Zac Robbins, and Vice President of the Board of Directors, Connor Krebbs, received a letter today from Chris Reykdal, Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), notifying the district of the names of the Financial Oversight Committee.
Msvl. WA - Superintendent Reykdal had previously notified the district that he would be convening a Financial Oversight Committee in accordance with RCW 28A.315.221 to review the financial situation of the Marysville School District (MSD) and make recommendations on a path forward to financial stability.
The following individuals have been named to serve on the committee:
T.J. Kelly, Chief Financial Officer, OSPI
Ramon Alvarez, Executive Director, Human Resources, OSPI
Kassidy Probert, Assistant Superintendent, ESD 101
Lisa Matthews, Assistant Superintendent, NW ESD 189 (non-voting)
In the letter linked HERE, Superintendent Reykdal provided a scope of the review. He wrote, “The review will focus primarily on review of the budget that MSD must make publicly available by July 10, 2024.” “The review will ensure that the budgetary decisions made by MSD comply with the plan submitted to OSPI on May 15, 2024, and that it meets the binding conditions placed on the district in August 2023,” he added.
In addition to the review, committee discussions and meetings, including public hearings, will be held. Superintendent Reykdal has also tasked the committee with a timeline to complete its work and provide him with recommendations by August 16, 2024.
The district must submit the 2024 - 2025 school year budget to the state no later than August 31, 2024, following the board of directors’ adoption of the budget at a regular session or special session public meeting earlier in the month.
