Middle School Students Gain Career Insights from Field Professionals

This school year, three Marysville School District middle schools hosted or scheduled a College and Career Fair for students to learn about various post-secondary education and career opportunities.

Msvl. WA - As a student, thinking about your future career can be overwhelming. Our schools are committed to preparing students for life after graduation. Starting in 6th grade, students receive guidance on high school, college, and career planning. Our school counselors, advisors, and staff understand the changing nature of career aspirations and provide resources to help students explore various higher education and career options through hosting College and Career Fairs.

Cedarcrest Middle School's College and Career Fair, coordinated by Cedarcrest teachers, was held earlier this year. The fair allowed students to learn about high school programs, college, career, tech, and trade opportunities, and access to career representatives from various organizations and businesses.

Similar to Cedarcrest’s fair, Totem Middle School held its fair on Wednesday, May 15th. In addition, 8th-grade students could attend virtual sessions with guest speakers. Speakers were selected based on students' interests in graphic design, animation, fashion, film production, architecture, forensics, marketing, aerospace manufacturing, and engineering.

Marysville Middle School’s College and Career Fair is coming up soon! On May 29th from 5-7 PM, students and families of Marysville Middle School are invited to attend the school’s “Wildcat Night” to visit with career professionals, college spokespeople, and representatives of Marysville’s high school programs. The exciting school-wide event will also feature a multicultural celebration, resource fair, games, and a free dinner for families.

All students and families district-wide were encouraged to attend the College and Career Fair hosted last fall at Marysville Pilchuck High School. The district appreciates College Readiness Counselors Alicia Coragiulo and Andrew Santos for organizing the event and our community partners for volunteering their time to inspire the next generation on their career paths. Planning for next school year’s College and Career Fairs, including a district-wide event, is underway.
