Local and State Officials Visit Regional Apprenticeship Pathways Program For “Spring Showcase” of Student Projects

On Tuesday, April 30th, students of the Regional Apprenticeship Pathways (RAP) program, alongside Snohomish County Councilman Nate Nehring, a key advocate of the program, hosted the annual RAP Spring Showcase.

Msvl. WA—The Regional Apprenticeship Pathways (RAP) program’s yearly Spring Showcase, held the afternoon of April 30th, offered an exciting opportunity for local and state officials and community members to listen to and learn more about the program directly from the students enrolled. Attendees received student-led tours of the RAP facilities on the Marysville Pilchuck High School campus to view student work and celebrate the program graduates. RAP students and alumni spoke to the attendees about the program and how it has prepared them for future trade careers.

The state-certified RAP program offers pre-apprenticeship training for high school students in Snohomish County interested in a career in the construction industry.

At the event, Herman Calzadillas, Dean of AMTEC and Career Connected Learning at Everett Community College was recognized and awarded the title “RAP Champion” for the year for his insight, support, and tireless efforts to build the RAP program for the benefit of students across the region.  ‘Dean Calzadillas has been with us since day one. He had a vision for the college to be involved in the efforts to build our workforce,’ said Nate Nehring, Snohomish County Councilman. ‘Because of the partnership with Everett Community College, RAP students have the support of a career readiness coach, earn college credit while completing the program, earn OSHA and CPR certifications, and are better prepared to be the workers and leaders of tomorrow,’ he added.

The Marysville School District is deeply grateful for the collaborative effort with Snohomish County and the unwavering support from our industry and community partners. Through this collective effort, we can offer the RAP program to students around Snohomish County, shaping the future of our community.
