Are you passionate about music? Would you like to learn more about how a program run by parents, community members, and other interested parties that can put instruments into students hands at no cost to them through the Music4Life program?
Do you know that children who participate in instrumental music activities do better in math, science, history, international languages, literature, reading, writing, and computer science, in addition to what it teaches in terms of teamwork and self-discipline? Not all students want to participate in instrumental music, but for those who do, and whose families cannot afford a musical instrument, this becomes an insurmountable barrier to the full basic education guaranteed to all students by the Washington State Constitution. The Marysville School District has partnered with Music4Life to bring musical instruments into the hands of students who may not otherwise be able to participate.
Music4Life (www.Music4Life.org) is a community-wide activity that was started as a demonstration project for Seattle Public Schools and is now being implemented in many school districts in the region including Marysville. Music4Life provides hundreds of ready-to-play musical instruments at no charge to participating public school districts. We hope you will join us on Tuesday, July 16, 6:30 pm, at the Marysville School District Board Room (4220 80th Street NE) for the informational meeting to learn more about the Music4Life program and how a little bit of your time can make a big difference in the life of a student.
We need your help to get the program fully implemented at the start of the new school year in September. Please RSVP attendance or questions by July 12 to Mark Wilder, Music4Life Coordinator at markgwilder@gmail.com.
