MEET OUR PRINCIPAL
Travis Hammond
My decision to enter the educational field came after working a variety of jobs in a 2 year span following my service in the Navy as a Hebrew Linguist. I was searching for a career that could give me time with my family while feeding my passion for learning. Education was a perfect fit. In 2002 I returned to school to get my Masters of Science in Education with a K-8 endorsement. I taught at my daughter’s elementary school and graduated in 2004. I taught at MMS for 13 years and while teaching I was introduced to GLAD and Avid strategies. This led me to pursuing a new certification for teaching English Language Learners and Spanish K-12. After working on many different leadership positions in the school I decided to seek a second Masters in School Administration in 2018 and graduated in 2020. My administrative path started as a TOSA with the equity team in 2021 and has continued with my work here at Liberty.
I am married to my wonderful wife Barbara and have three daughters and one son. My daughters Brook, Lacey, and Bailey are all grown up now and are not living at home. My son, Tanner, is a junior this year at Lakewood High School. A recent milestone for my wife and I is that we were made Grandparents this year. My daughter Brook and her husband Tim blessed us with our first grandchild, Addilyn, this last June. Our second granddaughter ,Saddie joined my daughter Lacey and her husband Chase this last January.
