Students enrolled in grades 6-12 are included in this project. Running Start students may qualify if they spend some porition of their school day enrolled in a Marysville School. Homeschooled students are not eligible unless enrolled in our School Home Partnership Program (SHoPP).
We hope that you will want your child to participate fully in a connected technology experience, having full access to multiple learning perspectives and opportunities. If your child has a device that meets the minimum specifications, that is awesome. You are welcome to bring it and use it at your own risk, even at school. If you do not want your child to have access at all, please speak with your school administrator.
In MSD we are defining access to technology tools as part of our educational program, which includes the ability to complete work and assignments at home. Students may be able to check out a chromebook at school, we will have a few available, but the intent is for students to have use at school and at home.
We have an optional low cost insurance program to mitigate that risk. If a parent/guardian opts for insurance, the Chromebook will be replaced with a deductible of $40.00. If not, the full value of the Chromebook, $354, will be assessed as a fine on the student’s record. Incidentally, that is similar to the cost of a new textbook. We also ask you to file a police report. After the fine is settled or the deductible paid, we will issue a new Chromebook to your student.
The Chromebooks are small enough to fit into a backpack and would be stored in the same secure location as school materials are stored currenlty for these types of events.
