Thank you so much for visiting our website and for your interest in the Marysville School District.
My name is Becky Berg and I am honored to serve as the District's superintendent. My husband and I and our three nearly grown children thrilled to be part of such a wonderful community that has helped create a quality school district - with great kids!
The Marysville School District is located just 31 miles north of Seattle. It encompasses the communities of Marysville, Quil Ceda and Tulalip located on the Tulalip Reservation. Our district community of learners includes over 11,000 students who are educated in ten elementary schools, four middle schools, and eight high schools.
Our team of instructional leaders and committed staff are dedicated to providing a positive learning experience and a safe learning environment for all children - every day - as is expressed in our district's Strategic Directions, Mission, Vision and Goals.
Please see the "Report Card" section at the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction's website to view our student achievement scores in detail. We are very proud of the improvement in learning as chronicled in our test scores. We have a long way to go in order to get all of our students to meet rigorous state standards, but we applaud both our students and staff for their efforts.
The community has been very supportive of our schools over the years. In 2010, we finished construction financed by a 2006 Bond of $118.2m that built the Marysville Getchell Campus which is comprised of four smaller learning community (SLC) high schools and is an award-winning campus, and Grove Elementary School. Both projects were completed on time and under budget and both a testament to the value our community places on education. Additionally, a four-year maintenance and operations levy passed with nearly a 58% "yes" vote in 2010. This levy is the lifeblood of our budget, and we are continually grateful for the support of our voters, even through tough economic times.
In 2014, the four-year commitment to the maintenance and operations levy was renewed by voters with a 57% "yes" vote and in addition a four-year Technology Capital Projects levy passed with over a 58% "yes" vote. The last successful technology levy was in 2005, so this was very exciting news for our schools. The technology levy is providing district-wide improvements for learning to prepare students for the future, including: updated computers for staff and students, Wi-Fi, cables and power to allow access needed for learning, professional development for staff, and security cameras at the front doors of every school. Again, we are continually grateful for the support from our voters.
The Marysville School District is an ideal size. We are big enough to offer wonderful academic, special education, and extracurricular programs, yet small enough for us to truly get to know each and every student in our district. Our goal is to build a significant relationship with each student to help the student reach his or her incredible potential.
